Do you think it is meaningfull to try to achieve a sustainable environment?.

As men are the most destructive species on earth, don“t you think that we should at least make an effort not to totally destroy and exploit the world that we live in?.
It is all very well to say that we must keep our economies growing, that we must attain better living conditions, but at what cost?. I am of the opinion that we are here on a temporary basis, and attempts should be made to preserve and cherish that which we have been given to enjoy. What are your thoughts?

Anyway, Yeah your right, but we in the US at least have lost touch with what we truly need. We consume consume, and that is part of the problem.

I think the issue is a serious one, the thread is not meant to be, just wondering what is the overall opinion, I am pretty sure there will be many diferent lines of thinking regarding this issue.

I also feel we should be both cherishing and preserving our planet.

Only short sighted ignorant fools would think differently.

Our current behaviour does not support the obvious answer, that is the question.

                      Don't we?

My thought is, if we just let alone nature do it's work then it won't destroy us. But due to men's activities, it was degraded continuously. Therefore we could say that it's just the nature's way for the destroyers to payback what they owe for.

As sentient beings, we're blessed with frontal lobes that grant us logical and predictive reasoning. As egoistic animals, we often ignore it.

People who are really concerned about the harm they are doing to the environment should make a difference and kill themselves. Otherwise they should get in their gas powered car and drive to their air conditioned house and open their freon cooled refrigerator and eat some processed meats on white bread and then turn on their flat screen televisions and laptop computers and Ipods and stop being such fucking hypocrites and kindly shut the fuck up.

                            You mean "processed meat-food product"?

Yeah I think it makes sense for regular folks to do what they can as a matter of course. I wouldnt force someone to re-use their shower water to flush their toilets with and water their garden with, but that'd be cool if it worked for them. Same with composting produce for their own garden, to grow more produce, etc etc. Just makes sense if you can do it.

This is sort of what I am trying to get at, it is definitely worth our effort to try and not make such waste of our resouces, surely the day will come when we will look back and realize how we mismanaged the whole issue.

The problem is simply that too many people live on this small planet. Humans reproduce like a virus out of control. All fighting for the same limited ressources. Survival of the fittest. Start some wars, let some people starve... That is the natural regulation.
