Surely you realize why people don't publicly post their URL's on a public profile on a board like this?

I can vouch for MANY companies on this board who have zero information on their public profile purely for the above-mentioned reasons alone. That includes people who are most definitely in this business with several thousand active sites and blogs with real employees. Just because a GFY profile is empty, you really should not conclude that person is not in the business. In many cases there people here with budgets and real businesses who simply fly under the radar.
