    Hot or Not List of scammers

    Hey,
    I know that the old school board members always perform a search on the forum when they are about to make some business with a new guy.
    However I have seen quite a lot scammer alerts lately.
    Wouldn't it be better to have a centralized thread where we could out scammers (and link to the scam alert to avoid people just posting names to damage their reputation)?

    I reckon this would make it easier for everyone don't you think?

                      Brandon Kagey (PHPGhost) on this board along with his various other alias on this board (Mystique,etc..). Took me for 8K on design/programming work a few months ago. He also ripped off a few other GFYers for few thousands each also.

                      He's the biggest scammer GFY as his total haul: $15K (from the 4 of us)

                          There should be a public google document which could be seen by anyone but could be edited by only a few. It should contain all the scammers, with proofs, and the document should be linked in the forum FAQ.

                                                                          Sometimes I feel like GFY is the small claims court of the adult webmaster world. It's like our own reality court TV show where we're all the judge in the court of public opinion. I think the new guy is onto something. Maybe start a list in another section and watch it grow.

                                                                                  Edit: I just saw that I used the words "out them" in the initial post.
                                                                                  What I meant was list them, I believe it is important to out them on a specific thread to give the guy a chance to justify himself.

                                                                                      It's not libel if you're stating facts. If Person A rips you off and you go online to bash them, it's not libel. He said he was going to do X and didn't deliver, but kept your money. Now if you say Person A fucks underage boys and beats his wife...now that's libel. And most libel suits lose because it's hard to distinguish between opinion and fact. You can avoid any libel suit by simply saying, "In my opinion Person A is a..." -- and they can't sue since it's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. Freedom of speech, bitches!

                                                                                      I was taken to court years ago because of a website I put up that was the name of the company + sucks.com. It was theircompanysucks.com - and I optimized it so it showed up in every search result for their company's services. I called the owner a piece of shit, a liar, etc. He sued for libel and lost because I established proof that he ripped me off, and I also wrote a small disclaimer that no one until the court case probably read, that said everything on the site was my opinion. It did cost me a pretty steep fee in legal bills that I'll never be able to recoup, unless I counter-sue, and that is just another headache waiting to happen.

                                                                                      I hope this helps. Crooks shouldn't be able to hide behind the legal system.

                                                                                          I agree with the op.. There should be even a whole section here on GFY dedicated to this subject.
                                                                                          There is a section for "Content Theft and You" so adding a "Scammers list" beside it can be very helpful

                                                                                                  Just went through jscott and freeones lists... sad thing is.. i bet i could find multiple threads for more than half those sponsors listed where people are saying what great guys and great programs these all were.
