Its stupid. Child molesters and rapists who destroy lives serve way less time. Yet sending out annoying emails will get you locked up longer than most murderers get. Something ain't right.

Well his sentance does include 37 more counts, including wire fraud, money laundering and aggravated identity theft plus tax issues so its not just for his spamming

Granted I think 20 is ridiculous, but spamming is typically fraud. These spammers use trojaned machines to send their e-mails. That's what proxie mailing is. Using open proxies (ie PC's infected with trojans) to send their e-mail so they can't be blocked or hopefully caught.

They typically don't report their earnings or they launder the money through other means. That's how the govt always nails these guys.

Prosecutors Kathryn Warma and Richard Cohen are calling for Soloway to do nine years in prison and pay a steep fine between $400,000 to $1 million.

Soloway's attorney, Seattle lawyer Richard Troberman, responded with a recommendation of two years in prison at the Federal Prison Camp in Sheridan, Ore., and a less severe fine, under $100,000.

Best case scenario is that he does two years then.

David Comings, a recognized expert on Tourette's Syndrome, first diagnosed Soloway with the condition back in 1988 and said in a letter to the court that "genetic impulse disorders, Tourette's Syndrome and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder have contributed to his (uninhibited) behavior and affected his judgment."

He kept spamming again and again because he has tourettes.... Makes sense, but shouldn't the ADD have caused him to get bored with it? lol
