    Dumb Question: Does your area have more than one company to buy your electricity from

    I'm interested, there's just one here, it's a monopoly and a dumb fucking company at that.

      We have just 1 as well. I've never heard of an area having a choice of power companies.

          there's 3 around here. if you live in city limits you have to buy from the city, outside city limits its split between a company and a power coop. they each have their own area, its kinda fucked up how they split it. one time i was on the coop and every one else for several miles around was on the power company

                      Only 1 here. Down a bit south of me though in some small area, the municipality actually subsidises or offsets costs. So if you live in that area, your bill might be $50 a month, while your neighbor might be $350.

                      Fuck em anyway. Buy solar panels and lock in your electricity cost for life.

                              I think it's always set up as a basic monopoly. It's FPL here (Florida Power & Light)
