    penthouse sales down the drain since AFF takeover

    Hey guys,

    dont take this as a bashing thread, as i know this is probably not the place, but I was just going over my Statsremote in depth as i do 1 time a month, and noticed the following trend. I only promote penthouse with some FHG and submissions.

    Dec 2007 - 8 sales / 12 rebills - $201.81
    Jan 2008 - 10 sales / 13 rebills - $346.27
    Feb 2008 - 6 sales / 18 rebills - $358.47
    *** Penthouse buys AFF and AFF now manages Penthouse online operations ***
    March 2008
    In the old program (NATS) - 10 rebills - $99.70
    In the new AFF program - 39 "free" members for a wopping $0.90 earned.

    Some more details about this. I by no means promote penthouse very heavy, just some FHGs and the odd submission, but stats are stats. I have a linkcode system that I can switch over the sponsor codes with 1 button to point to a new code. So basically any gallery ever submitted for penthouse has the new Penthouse AFF program code. The hosted galleries magically don't track ofcourse, so maybe some sales got lost there. But hummm.. this does not seem quite right. The ONLY membership being "sold" now is the free membership bullshit which just allows an upgrade or something, which well obviously does not seem to be happening. I got one wopping upgrade in april so far ($12 something earned) and already another 9 useless "free" members.

    Am I the only one that saw penthouse earnings go through the drain since AFF take over online operations?

                  yep i had a dedicated project for that revolved around penthouse awhile back...a site with at least 30% going towards it and now it's all free member sign-ups. given...a few surfers signed up under the yearly program but it seems to be 1 yr members or free members. the new 5 minute clip "tube site" they have may be counter-productive...but hey it prompts aff!

                                      I think it pretty much boils down to webmasters not liking content thieves and those that fund them. After all the result is truly the webmasters bottom line on the chopping block.

                                      There I said it, thats right...
                                      AFF would be doing alot better not supporting content thieves and companies like Zango. Penthouse is solid gold no reason why it should not sell but less promotion = less demand as a result of less exposure.

                                      Many equate less exposure = more sales but it is not true.

                                          Well, I recently wrote a review of the site for a client and...I don't think surfers are liking the bait and switch they've got going with the "free membership."

                                          Now I'm not trying to say "oh poor surfers" or anything, but it says free, and, well, it ain't.

                                          I mean sure, I wouldn't expect to get full access to everything for free, but once you're in there, you can't do ANYTHING. I'd be pissed and probably would leave without upgrading too which is a shame because I actually like the site itself.

                                          You show someone some previews and tell them the price to access everything, and they just might sign up. You tell them it's free, put them through the sign up process and then give them nothing and then ask them to go through a second sign up process... well... they might just move along.

That accounted for some of the sales, so its not quite as bad as it initially looked. The free members model is not the way to go in my opinion, but at least more or less on track.

The initial affiliate program was just to create a new awareness for Penthouse's internet presence and now that its done, adios webmasters. Penthouse wants all the money for themselves.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  So my thinking is : If it did affected me this bad, I can only imagine how it is for the other ones...

                                                                                                                                                                                                  Many of you know where I come from.. Always loved Penthouse, always will, I truly loved working there and everyones from the NYC office, we did parted in good terms due to the merge... But no matter how I can love a company, I have to look at the numbers and numbers are what matters here. Never changed anything from Before and After.. Traffic, galleries, sites and most important, DEDICATION...
