    And majority voted for this? I do not believe that majority of SC support that, how come majority of representatives voted for that? They probably were afraid of libtard propaganda and being labeled raciss?

                      i want to agree and would tend to agree. the glaring problem is that it's a fact that flag's symbolism was co-opted by white supremacists and others like them beginning in the 1950s. It's not incorrect to see that flag as a symbolism for hate not pride, based on its history.

                      I can't help but consider that history in understanding why the elected officials of South Carolina decided it's best not to fly that flag on government property over a Civil war monument, which is staying.

                          The majority of them went for this because it's the proper thing to do. A percentage of the population believes this is racist, and yet another percentage of the population believes it's improper to fly the flag of a nation who went to war with the United States.

                          I lived in North Carolina for four years.... I fail to understand this - Why would ANYONE want to fly a flag that represents bad ideas and complete failure? Slavery is internationally condemned and the Confederacy lasted only four years and ended in failure. Why would anyone be proud of this?

                                          I was under the impression people's view of the flag are split ~50-50. nevertheless, it's telling to me that the monument remains. there is no controversy surrounding respectful remembrance of the Confederacy. but since there is with the flag, it seems prudence is the best thing.

                                          for me, the monument remaining is proof that this is about that State not being a part of controversy. I can understand and appreciate that. not saying you should agree. but folk's rights to that flag are still intact and people can and should still fly that flag if they want.

                                                          The flag had no reason to be there. It was put there in the 1960's by racists Democrats in South Carolina govt. as a way to protest the Federal Govt. Civil Rights actions.

                                                          Having said that...this wasn't even a blip on the radar screen a couple of weeks ago.

                                                          But I guess people feel better about themselves now.
                                                          Yes, this insane white supremist piece of shit killed those black people in that church.

                                                          What can we do? I know! Let's take the confederate flag off the capital grounds 120 miles away!
                                                          Now we can all feel good about ourselves and that fixes what happened at that church in Charleston! Yay for us!

                                                          Having lived in South Carolina from 1993 to 2007...I only hope that this doesn't get some of the other crazy fucks there to do something bad in reprisal.

                                                          The flag should have been a separate issue from that mass murder. But now they have tied them together. My fear is that it's going to happen again because now any of the racist crazies that may be around that area are pissed off.

I get where you are coming from, and who knows, in 50 years, or 500 years, they may look back and realize it all went to shit over that flag coming down. at the same time, that spree shooter that wanted to start a race war by murdering blacks in a church didn't get that. there is no war, quite the opposite.
