Keep in mind that was the first day. The rest of the time the two were completely dehydrated. Their are coconut shells they could have put the water in, and dropped like a 5 inch diameter rock into it and would have purified the water in a few seconds.
No, after they failed to boil water with tiny rocks, they would wait for rain storms and lick puddles off of rocks. It's craziness. The guy did not make it the 21 days and the girl barely did. They were dehydrated the entire time.
