I survived a trip to our local Apple store

The wife wanted to replace her dying iTouch player - so we ventured in to our local Apple store and picked her up a new one.

Her and I are diehard android users...except for an iPod nano I used for a few weeks before putting a new sound system in the old car. Probably still sitting somewhere in my glovebox. The sales staff was friendly, very helpful...and even laughed when I told him we were both clutching our Samsung Galaxy 4s very tightly....like Linus's security blanket.

So now she was in a good mood with her new toy...so I seized the opportunity to wander down to The Source and picked out a new WD 3Tb external backup drive. I even got them to price match it with Costco at $143.

So after spendin' the afternoon backing up up all my original photography onto the new drive, I have some peace of mind finally.

Finished the day off by renting American Sniper and Interstellar on blu-ray.

Remember when it cost a dollar a gig for backup?

I've never had a nano but the ipod shuffles are great for parties because using one gives you a valid reason to not play whatever shitty song some drunk idiot requests. lol

This will age me, but when I worked at Radio Shack in 1989/1990 we sold 20 megabit hard drives for about $800.

But I do remember hearing people say, "Paying $1 per gig for a harddrive is about right." Crazy.

The TRS-80 that I bought from you had 512 megs of ram and a floppy disc drive. That was it...nothing in those HUGE towers back then but AIR, oh and a fancy color monitor and was like $2500 then! FUCK

I was going to get the Amiga 600 HD, looong time ago, but waited four weeks since they doubled the HD space from 20 MB to 40 MB with the new release. Good old times!

At the time I was working for them their newest "big" thing was the Tandy 1000. It came with 640K of ram and ran at 10mhz. The computer alone was about $1,800. When you added in a monitor it ran about $2,500. It didn't come with a hard drive, but for about $800 you could add a 20mb hard drive.

it's a bit.. meh. It had this 'epic movie' expectation from me because of all the hype i guess. The conclusion was dissapointing. Nice pictures though but that's not enough.

Not impressed with the story, I was expecting some plot twist or some fun poking at customers there, or something, anything. Lol.

Ps: american sniper is shit, cookie cutter movie about life between war zone and home. Anybody who is considering spending money on it, don't. Trust me.

Nice. I think I'm going to go buy Interstellar. LOVE that movie.

Remember their first hard drive? It was a 5 Megabyte noise machine. I remember playing with one in the store and was floored by the speed. I miss those things..!

You dun goofed. TRS-80's only came with 64k of Ram, Max. Maybe you mean the Tandy IBM Compatible machine?

It (Interstellar) had its technical goofs but it's a lot more accurate that other Science fiction movies. Even Gravity had a giant gaping goof in it. It's ok to close your eyes sometimes and enjoy the art.

Agreed. The climax of the movie was freaking great, but the end end end of the movie was a bit off. I was hoping for a Chris Nolan Mind-fuck like that last frame of The Prestige, but didn't get it. Boo.
