                                                                                                                          the biggest problem with it... remember whenever they did a 'restart' of everything, and those that started right at the beginning and played 24/7 and got their bots going and everything got a good jump on the economy and got a bunch of good stuff and all

                                                                                                                          so it kind of makes it so that when it comes out a person has to forget about anything but playing diablo for the first month to try not to be left behind and join in a month later as a dreaded NEWB

                                                                                                                              With these things, you can't change something so drastically that you lose your core base of fans. You have to continue the formula... improve on it, but continue it.

                                                                                                                              Sylvester Stallone did comedy movies that flopped. Because he was in a slump? Or because he completely changed the formula and his fans didn't agree?

                                                                                                                                  They wouldn't have to completely change the formula to make the game more interesting or more innovative than it looks in the gameplay trailer.

                                                                                                                                  New spells, a new class, and manipulating the environment doesn't really cut it. Hopefully they've left out some new features that they didnt mention or havent finished yet that will be in the actual game.

                                                                                                                                                                                      the repetitiveness is part of what made it the greatest game of all time

                                                                                                                                                                                      going on endless numbers of baal runs or andy runs ruled, and even setting up bots and watching them do the same run over and over was awesome

                                                                                                                                                                                      the game just had a perfect combination of factors making it the best of all time

                                                                                                                                                                                                  It lacks somewhat in the traditional rp sense but i've never understood why people have to be so black and white about things. Were quests/tasks and the story largely irrelevant to Diablo? Mostly. You could finish all tasks in 30 seconds just by going through the maps and then returning to the town at the end and talking to everyone in one hit and giving each of them their artifact-of-return-to-owner-ness or letting them thank you for killing the big-bad-critter-we-wish-would-die-ness monster.. but that still doesn't make it a bad game. Thats like saying you "hate" a block buster movie because it's dumb fun (I don't understand why it's a binary thing.. why can't you get a boner from anything Charlie Kaufman's ever written or Jean-Pierre Jeunet's ever directed and still enjoy Iron Man (or whatever the popcorn action hero movie of the month is)). The main part of the equation is fun. I don't see how it's less fun because it's not Rogue or whatever. And to a certain extent too much rp can get in the way of fun too.
                                                                                                                                                                                                  Anyways.. not the best RPG ever made, but fun enough to suck a good month or two worth of weekends away that you'll never get back... and thats coming from someone who played Bard's Tale 1, Pools of Radience, Ultima 4 etc.
