I read most of the major boards when I first started out to try to learn about tgp's and gather ideas on sites, which sites to promote, pps vs. revshare etc.
I was at internext vegas in 03, I came to the conclusion that for a small timer like me back then, conventions were pointless. The boards have info on any program, you can feedback on programs just by making a thread, etc.
I posted about my 1mil to be some motivation to others. I owe my life to this industry, I hit my goal because of this industry, might as well try to light a fire under some newbie asses right?adult changed my life. here's some motivation for you- my rags to riches storyComment

So how much time would you spend every day reading the forums and learning compared to working?
Would you spend hours at a stretch absorbing threads or just a few minutes reading tidbits and off to work again.

Great story, truly an inspiration to many. I've had the same philosophy on cars, although I couldn't survive in a studio. :-)
One thing I was taught is that your money needs to always be working for you. If it's not, you're losing money. You can get into a lot of safe investments with that money if you're worried about losing it. In the meantime, you might look into throwing some of that into ING, HSBC or any of those online savings accounts that are paying around 5% these days. I use those when I'm in between investments or lazy.Comment

I would say, read as much as you can, take notes in word, make an outline of things that you think will work.
get ready for a lot of trial and error, some things work, some don't.

Some people don't feel the need to show off...especially if they don't drive that much. I drive a 98 Eclipse, and until it was totalled my wife drove a 96 Grand Am - we bought both of them used when we moved to SoCal in 2002. Mine still has under 75K on it and hers had about 70K when it was totalled. I'd rather invest money so that I can retire, than pour it into cars that mostly sit in a garage...what's wrong with that?
