Copyrighted material can be used without permission if it is satire, in the US at least. Of course there are limitations on this, and a character likeness may or may not fall under that ruling. I would imagine that if the Simpson's creators felt that it was in fact bad publicity or that they were being cheated out of future income as a result of the krustylinks website, then they would send a simple letter asking for either royalties or for them to alter the site.Originally posted by JFPdude

I've noticed another problem in this industry.. a really poor understanding of the law. You can't sue someone for calling you an asshole, you can't sue someone for saying you are a cheater or a fraud when you in fact did do something that was cheating or fraudulent, and you can't frivilously sue someone for copyright infringement.
