Did I overlook Shane (with Alan Ladd), which is my favorite western of all time, or is it on the list?

It's not bad, but The MAtrix is about 33 spots too low...
          This place is too big.

Good to see Kurosawa's movie at #8, given the fact that many voters are Americans

True. Most movies made today it seems like they have the McDonalds execs right there while they're editing the script to figure out how they can create some Value Meal pack out of it or stuff a toy in a happy meal. Bullshit marketing!

                                  1. Paul Schrader's tight, insightful screenplay
                                  2. Scorsese's uncompromising direction
                                  3. Deniro's inspired performance

Jodie Foster and Harvey Keitel are amazing too.

any movie list where "toy story 2" is twice as high as "being john malkovich" and internet geeks skewing starwars higher than it should be isn't exactly a definitive and binding guide.

But his role in the movie "Awakenings" was the most incredible acting i've ever seen him do. It's worth to watch this movie just to see DeNiro act. Pure brilliance. I'll never understand why he didn't get an oscar for that one.

You know the ending 10 minutes into the film. Made for the common denominator and to appeal to 15-20 year olds.

So many would never of been made if it was not for the toys they can sell off it. Wonder how long before the porn industry jump on this bandwagon?

Interesting to note how many Martin Scorcese and Francis for Coppola movies are there..

The Godfather should be no. 1...absolutely riveting performance by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert Duvall. Especially Marlon Brando, he has a presense in that movie you can just feel.

Did Tender Mercies end end up on the list?....Robert Duvall is tour de force in that film.

Oh, and as for why alot of old movies are on that list....there was a time when movies where about emotions and feelings and really touched and affected you. Mot many of those left...mostly pure entertainment or sappy.

Of course there was Silence of the Lambs....I was mesmerized by Anthony Hopkins in that one.
