    How long do you hang on to old love letters, cards, photos of exes?

    Once you get into a new, maybe serious relationship do you still hang on to those old ''i love you'' Valentines Day cards & kissy face pictures of an ex, or does it go into the garbage?

    Anyone ever have this situation, or a significant other who keeps pictures etc hanging around?

    Achmed keeps pictures of all 17 of his wives on the wall, it drives Amrina crazy.

                          I always stockpile that stuff, then just before a new gf moves in I have to burn it all. It would just be a matter of time before she found it and would want to know why I was hanging onto it.

                                                      I keep all mine. I fortunately have a cool boyfriend who doesn't care and he has kept all his as well. It's a part of your past regardless if it's good or bad. So keep them. If anything it might bring you a laugh!

                                                                      I keep mine from people that really meant something to me. They were a big part of my past, and therefore a big part of who I am today.

                                                                      But on the reverse, I am also okay for my husband keeping things from his past. The same applies to him as it does to me.

                                                                      If somebody is in a relationship with somebody who can't understand that, that person obviously has insecurity issues and isn't the right person to be with.

                                                                      Oh, and one more thing to add to the above... these "things" that we keep are non-sexual things. Any sex pics, videos, etc. would have to go right into the firepit. Those are memories best kept only in your head.

                                                                          Once you are in the new relationship, or if your significant other is the one who hangs onto these things, when you keep this memorabilia, does it make a difference if it was just an old gf/bf from high school that you dated for a couple months & went to the prom with rather than a man/woman you nearly married and were with for years?
                                                                          Would one cause more of an issue than the other?

                                                                          What about private pictures, kissing etc... aren't those sort of the ones that need to go if any?

                                                                                  The only ones I keep are from the times when I was 14.

                                                                                  I was kind of hanging out with a cute gypsy girl, she was 17 at that time, really good looking, raised in some sqaure family, with short black hair (a major turn on) and I was a desperate twink with long hair at that time, we met at this summer, damn how's that called in the US terminology, well the summer camp or something.

                                                                                  I wasn't ready to handle an older girl at that time (psychically) but she was really a lot into me and we kept writing each other letters (there was no such thing like internet or sms shit at that time) which I think is cool and it has much more atmosphere than if you just drop someone an sms saying you have a hard on.

                                                                                  Nothing really serious happened ever since, I would probably find some naughty photos stored somewhere on my old PC from a couple wild nights but that's it.

                                                                                          From a girl's perspective anyway, if I were to start a new relationship and know up front that the guy has sentimental attachments to his past, I would be totally cool with that. But if I were to accidentally stumble on certain things in the future that I found deeply stashed away, those are the things I would have an issue with. The way I would see it... if you feel the need to hide them, there must be an unhealthy attachment to them and a not-so-good reason why you are keeping them hidden.

                                                                                          Does that make sense to anybody besides me?

                                                                                              The pic and note I have seem to float from box to box, drawer to drawer. I dont try to hide, or try to save them. When I come across them, it just reminds me of those days and I set it in the "keep" pile rather than the "trash" pile, thats all.

                                                                                              I also keep a pic I have of my old motorcycle, lol. Seriously, it just reminds me of how much fun times there were thrashing around the backwoods on that thing, raising hell.
