Tech Just ordered a gaming tablet... What yah think?

Its basically an android tablet that designed for gaming, but specifically retro gaming. You get nearly all the games included with it, and you can use the app store for more

It does Playstation 1, NES, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Neo Geo etc etc... & naturally, it also runs MAME so all the arcade classics work too.

Plus it pumps out the pic to my 42inch flatscreen, meaning I just use it as a controller

Oh yeahhh. Its a rooted tablet too

Sorry to break that up for you...but thats pure crap android based fake vita, absolutely shit I guarantee it. You could have done the same with any android device.

edit: both processors are complete shit and the software for it is complete shit.

I find this whole concept flawed. I would get it if you would buy a screen covering your whole wall and putting a real car in front of it (and wired to it) to play car games, but this small screen and shitty controls development, I don't get it.

Exactly. The one I'm getting is pre-routed and preinstalled with all the emulators and most importantly all the roms I need.

I dont already have a fancy phone, or another tablet, so its an all in one solution, with a 7 inch screen, that will let me play whatever I want (Crazy Taxi especially) straight out of the box

I'm more into the retro stuff anyway than the fancy modern multiplayer games

Get a wii and softmod it. I have every NES and SNES game in existance on mine and you can also play sega, n64, game boy advance etc etc

Though I haven't played kids games since.. as a kid. Well, I guess I played once with a friend and his daughter, and it was a kids game, but excluding that.

You won't be able to play most games designed for phone/tables like temple run. The gravity thing basically doesnt work well there. Let us know when you get it and played around with it for a week. Rockchip processors are basically crap, I have one on a tv box. its shit.
for $150 you could of gotten yourself a nice intel hdmi stick coming out in about 2 weeks, nothing would of been preinstalled but you could have done it yourself or let someone else do it for a fiverr.

Understand about not being able to play new games, but I dont actually want to play new games on it. I only really want to be able to play games that are from the 1990s at the maximum. I'm totally into it for the retro stuff. The old consoles, the old computers etc... It has all and all the games, so I'll be happy.

When I wanted to play arcade games realistically, I got an arcade machine set up with mame so I could play the arcade games using the genuine arcade machine controls and hardware. As such I enjoy it.

With the tablet, it will be nice to play older console games using the dual analogue sticks and buttons that are built into it... Much like the controllers that I originally played them on years ago.

However, I dont doubt that you are correct in stating that it probably isnt cutting edge blisteringly fast hardware - I dont really need it anyway.

Bottom line is if I can play crazy taxi, and open a browser to post on GFY, I'm gonna be happy enough, as I dont have a fancy phone or tablet at the moment anyway

I'll bump this thread when it hass arrived and I've had a play, with a proper review
