    Anyone here hosting their own videos?

    So, i finally hosted some of my videos instead of embedding them from tube sites.

    Interesting finds
    1. Bounce rate went up
    2. Average pages viewed down

    Also

    My question is to people who host their own vids..
    1. Watching your hosted vids via mobile will Never be perfect unless you upload the raw .mp4 file??????
    2. How much bandwith do your normally use up average.

      Maybe the vids are not 'optimized'? Takes too long to load, etc?

          I got my mp4 vids hosted on a seperate cloud server.. about 1-2 minutes long..some of em 5

          Funny how google analytics showing an increase in bounce rate.. i just did [embed]url to .mp4[/embed] to make ALL videos show up properly on all mobile/table devices

          because using flash players etc make em look like shit on mobile/table devices..

              Is the bounce rate being tricked because the videos are on another server?
              Are you using something like fast start on the mp4s? If they come to you that way from sponsor maybe they've already been optimized?

              We are done with flash. I wish more sponsors would make the switch as well.

                  uhhh noo..i was just embeding videos from xvideos before and bounce rate was at 25-30%

                  after embedding my own hosted videos it jumped to 35% bounce ratio..

                  Yeah, [embed]url to mp4[/embed] = is the way to make your vids SHOW properly on ALL platforms..

                      The first assumption would be that their CDN is more sophisticated than the one you're using now. Has time on site changed as well?

                          the problem with using flash player is that it doesnt show right on mobile devices

                          the downside of embeding mp4s is that you can't place postroll ads (after the video plays, u see an ad that takes u to full video BUT it shows perfect across all mobile platforms and tablets)

                              my guess is the player... have you tried using flash player with HTML5 fallback (or just HTML5 player)? It will look more natural and will give better control to the users...
