In most cases, it'll be extremely hard for you to convince your friend to leave him or go to a shelter, etc...or she would have by now.

Thus, the best course of action is to make him leave her alone.

Most bullies are very scared of a 'fair fight', so go give him a little of his own medicine (or if you can't/won't get someone else to) and I bet he backs off.

You also don't have to worry about cops in this case, as he won't call in to report you threatened him/beat him up because he'll worry about the fact he beat his gf coming out.

To those who are going to say 'violence solves nothing, etc...' - you are wrong. Violence CAN and DOES solve things, sometimes it's the only solution.
