I have shot with a gopro hero 3 black, still need good lighting as with any camera. sometimes it turns out really good, sometimes not so good (area's blown out) Sound from mic is usable but not great. The new hero 4 is supposed to have control over iso etc. so that should make it a bit better. make sure and shoot in medium to lessen the distortion.
for amateurs GoPro would be a great choice.
Make sure and get the backpack. not sure how anyone could use it without one.

I asked a shooter to try out a GoPro for me, turned out that the GoPro really isn't meant for indoors, not great in low/room light, so you'd need some additional lighting. If you were looking for a really old school amateur or surveillance camera type look it would work.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!
The GoPros are not well suited to porn the field of view is way too wide causing distortion across the entire image. Its cool for Broll and maybe a few novelty shots but simply not good for porn even in 1080PN mode (I have a Hero2, 3 black and a 4 black)
great for outdoor sports not so much for indoor sports

It's No wonder I took up drugs and alcohol, it's the only way I could dumb myself down enough to cope with the morons in this biz.
