Kobe threads are entertaining because all the Kobe haters always come out. The same guys who said a few years back they'd rather take Tmac, Vince, DWade over Kobe. LOL. Would you still take them now? Kobe has the drive and passion that has not been seen since MJ. To say that Kobe doesnt even belong in the same sentence with MJ is pure ignorance. Kobe's the best player in the game today. When the olympics come around and the US is down a basket with 5 secs left.. guess who's getting the shot: NOT LBJ, NOT Dwade.... Kobe's getting the shot.
Now back to the OP's questions. Who gets the last shot in a game?
- If I need a 2pointer.. MJ, he's more explosive at the basket.
- If I need a 3? Kobe.. he's got more range than MJ.
2 on 2?

That behind the back, under the leg dribble to the running sky hook over Mutumbo was one of the sickest plays ever. Kobe ruled Jordan in that game but didnt play in the 4th becuause he was still the young guy.

Nothing will be told until Kobe is done. There is no sense in comparing them.
Jordan was and to this day is still the best ever 2 guard in the game. However, Kobe my be the most exciting player ever. I saw Jordan make some sick shots to win games. I have seen Kobe single handedly bring his team back by scoring 30+ points in a quarter.
Jordan had a ton of talent around him. Kobe had Shaq and that's it. The rest have always been scrubs and some roll players. Finally the Lakers have aquired some talent. Young talent but good talent. I think you'll see Kobe get a few more rings in the next few years.
I love Jordan, I have a poster of him in my office but right next to his is Kobe... They are both amazing players but in slightly differnt ways.
Both were called ball hogs in the begining of their careers.
I saw someone say if you wrinkle Kobe's jersey you get called for a foul. Well check stats.. Michael lived at the line and nobody demanded more respect from the officials then Michael did.
Kobe has shocked me so many times in what he has done over the years with such shitty teams.
Michael played in a different era when the game was wide open and scoring was up.
Things have changed. Michael owns.. But just don't take away what Kobe is and has done. The guy is simply amazing in his own right.Comment

Kobe is one of the greatest of all time (and the best in the league right now, and a very exciting talented player) but Jordan IS the GOAT.
I've grown up watching both of them. From a purely statistical standpoint, many of you need to apprize yourself of the facts. Jordan > Kobe not only in pure numbers but effectiveness. You need both to be the greatest.
Unless Kobe becomes superhuman and his best years really are ahead of him (which is very possible), I don't see him concievably besting Jordan.
The argument that Kobe > Jordan with regard to 3 point range has legs but it is one of the only measures where Kobe comes out on top.Comment

He shot his free throws EXACTLY LIKE JORDAN. Exact stance, ball bounce, follow through. Rediculous.
He TALKED like Jordan. Same phrases, same tone, same voice if you closed your eyes.
He idolized Jordan to the point he played and acted like Jordan. That in itself holds him back from being the greatest.
Jordan was like no other player ever. He didn't mimic anyones shot, talk like anyone. He was the creator of his Legend. Kobe isnt unique or original enough to be better than Jordan. Jordan carved the path for a Kobe to be Kobe. Without Jordan, Kobe dont exist.
Kobe without a doubt is a mega star and one of the best players to play the game. Insanely talented.
But Jordon made his own rules. And Kobe followed them.... and still does.
Get your tongue back in your mouth Kobe. And accept you will never be Michael.Comment

Its not a matter of taking away from Kobe... its a matter of stating who the better player is. And its not Kobe. Its Michael. Kobe is amazing...... he does things LIKE Michael... he reminds you of Michael..... but Michael did things nobody has ever done. Thats the difference. Kobe has never outdone Michael.... and Michael created whatever Kobe is doing now. An amazing follower in the genius footsteps. Kobe would have to invent something Michael never has done to be the better player.... driving to the hoop, fade away jumper, 3 point shots, slam dunks, crazy 3 point plays, Kobe just follows Jordans lead with all of it. In Kobes defense, maybe Kobe was born too late.... but to be honest... I dont think Kobe is Kobe without him watching and learning from Michael.Comment

Jordan also played in an error when the NBA didn't have sissy defensive rules and when the hand check WAS allowed..unlike now. There is no comparison. Jordan in his prime would average 45 points a game in this NBA.★★★
