I saw only gold and white and thought this was pretty simple and then scrolled down to read and when I scrolled back up I saw blue and black.
The white tuned to blue and the gold turned to black.

Seriously, you have to be a little kid or a very rural person that has never seen a photo, to actually be fooled by cheap contrast tricks. The fact that this made such a scandal around the world shows how stupid and gregarious people are. A person is not so stupid to know by himself the colour of the dress, it is only by his desire of social acceptance that he dares to doubt it.
And, philosophically, colour is not in objects, colour is what you experiment when you see, and if the photo was tricked to show other light frequencies, for example, those related to yellow and white, you will see yellow and white, and you can't deny it. But it is the fault of a photo trick, not of some mysterious optical magic....Nice.Comment
