For people who have suffered with serious depression and treatments haven't helped - yes. Anti-depressants have been greatly exaggerated as cures, many people don't get much improvement from them and psychotherapy has never been proven to work - other than by a placebo effect. So if somebody with crippling depression who's tried a bunch of treatments and still is suffering - who are we to force them to keep on suffering?
Doctors diagnose so many people these days with 'depression', many of them who really aren't sick but just going through a bad period in life or just generally not happy, that people don't understand for that for some people depression is severe, not just feeling blue, people that wake up one day and everything is dark, they can't function at all. For those of us who've never experienced there's no way to truly understand.
