Personally, I prefer these three things to prizes...
1. Quality hosting
2. A Good Price
3. Great customer/technical support
Offer those, and you won't need prizes and gimmicks, right?
If you really do want to offer prizes, make sure it is something people actually need. Doubling someone's bandwidth for a month, for instance, is silly because most people won't be able to get their traffic up for a month. Offer people a $500 credit towards future hosting, though, and people will take notice.

I perfer web hosts which allow unlimited domains and cheap bandwidth. Cheap bandwidth is a big issue for our movie sites. Visitors can really suck the bandwidth when you offer sample content files 1-4 mb clips.SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment
