That thread is way too long. What happened? We do big business with VS and have never had a problem.
I admit I've skipped large swaths.. But long story short, VS basically pulled a TOS trick on an affiliate who got out of adult, and stopped sending traffic. He was promoting a "lifetime" product they offered, which should pay out as long as his customers are rebilling etc.
They claimed that because he didn't respond to their attempts to contact him, they decided to cancel his account. He was still CASHING his checks though.. Pretty lame.
Now VS has dug their heels in, and is trying to ignore the situation.
Pretty, fucked, up. They also say they've made over $176,000 from this affiliate, and have paid him roughly $40,000. To stop paying him on a loophole is ridiculous, especially since they're still making money off his customers.
Shap, if I shut my websites down tomorrow, how long would you pay my rebills? ;)

just read the first page, you'll get the gist of it. But basically an affiliate was being paid for lifetime revshare (paid quite well), VS stopped paying him because he wasn't sending traffic.

in short he sent them over 120,000$ in sales, but he hadnt sent trafffic for a couple years, they cut off his lifetime revshare, and banned his account.

You do big business with them and know that there's a 13+ page drama thread revolving around them and yet can't be bothered to check to at least see what the basics of what it is about??

I checked it out and it seemed to be one isolated incident. I didn't see anybody besides that one person have a problem so I stopped reading. I have a good long standing profitable relationship with them.

Its true, it is isolated to a total of 2 webmasters over their 13 year lifespan, but still, the ramifications are pretty bad to kill a webmaster account because he wasn't generating new sales/traffic. Almost nobody would get affected, but its still a pretty bad thing to do in my opinion.

They knew his mailing address was correct. They didn't really make an attempt to contact him about his account being at risk and their decision to terminate him, by pulling a TOS "we reserve the right to do whatever the fuck we want, whenever we want to." They admitted he did nothing wrong. They're just going to keep his portion of the revshare from his whale.
The VideoSecrets guy Brad Estes, is the same guy that did this over at Adultcheck too when that ship was sinking. They terminated their affiliate relationship at whim with thousands of affiliates and kept all their money.

It's definitely shady business, and they know it! Pretty lame.
I hope they've seen a dent in their traffic from the drama, but the truth is, if you're making good money with someone, it's hard to pull down your links. I bet if someone like Shap complained, they'd be paying this guy in a heartbeat though.
Lets see how good the "long Relationship" goes when ya stop sending traffic or ya slow down in the business. But above all that VS have effectively admitted to stealing the guys money saying something along the lines he was paid enough.
They broke there word and bond in an affiliate relation.
Supporting VS in this "Long Relationship" may say a few things about your own judgement in business relations. I for one would not continue business with someone that has stolen money from an affilaite.
Not even a single 1 where lacking any evidence of fraud.
Rev share is rev share and it's intended to rebill for the duration of referred customers.
Anything else is attempting to create a gray space or excuse where there is not one.
No one stops sending checks on recurring tillt he referred customer removes themselves from the service. Its a partnership.

Isolated as far as people here know. If this is just the elimination of old affiliates who are collecting revshare, you may not see many people posting here about it. Many have probably moved on from adult and the amounts may be too small to even start shit over.
Either way, I'm sure you're fine as long as you continue to send them traffic forever.

Socks if it was you I'd definitely put up a stink and get your back. Unfortunately I don't know the guy who complained and I've been burned way too many times in this biz sticking up for the wrong people. As a result I try to keep to sticking up only for the people i know.

hah! Thanks Shap.. I wasn't suggesting you should, I'm just saying it seems like the only thing that will change VS's mind is a loss of business, since money seems to be their only concern here.
Also when you stick up for people, many times you end up acting on impulse from hearing one charismatic side of the story, only to find out you end up looking a fool after the other side comes out
