    Need Help!! Moved site to new host now images missing??

    I need some help if anyone has seen anything like this before.

    I moved my wordpress sites to a new host and everything is working except some images don't show up. The uploads directory rights are fine it's just some images.

    I put the direct link to images that work in the browser address bar and they load in the browser.

    Then I put the direct link to the images that don't show up and it returns a 404 error.

    wp-content/uploads/1.jpg returns 404

    then if I rename the uploads directory and try the image again it loads fine.

    wp-content/uploadsimages/1.jpg Loads fine

    This is driving me crazy.....

          So, some/most pics load but a few do not? Try re-uploading the image folder.

              Yeah, Ive tried that too. Most pics show up and when I reupload the pics that don't show up it is the same thing. If I rename the folder they show up then rename it back to uploads they won't load again....

                      Can't you just change the upload directory name and do a find/replace for all 'uploads' and change it to the new path?

                          is the ../wp-content/uploads/1.jpg actually there?

                          If it is, the pathing is messed up somehow maybe the inodes are bad.

                          If the paths are wrong either fix the paths or remame the directories to match the paths -- why would they revert in name? Manually FTP one of the 404 images to overwrite the bad one or missing one. See if that image works.

                          if you have ssh cp -r the directories
                          cp -r /home/wp-content/uploads/* /home/hope/wp-content/newuploads
                          Usually, when things go "bump in the night" there is a reason for it.

                              Try to refresh your permalinks.
                              See if host doesnt have any hotlink protection active.
                              Open basedir might also interfere with that...

                                  I think I'm just going to rename the uploads directory and do a search and replace on all the posts to replace with the new one.

                                  I have been spending too much time on trying to find out why this is happening. Thanks for all your advice guys......

                                  I have another problem that I can't explain that's happening with hostgator which I'm moving my sites off of. I will make another post about that one too.
