They were popular with snipers before the Barrett was made, simply because there were no bolt action rifles chambered for .50 at the time. Once it was observed what could be done with that round by affixing a scope to a browning, somebody said "hmmmmmm..." and now we have .50 sniper rifles.- As soon as I think up a good sig it's going here.Comment

Having served on many gun crews, and emplacing/firing the M2 myself, I recall that it was 85lbs alone, 127 lbs with it's tripod, maximum effective range against a point target was 2000 yards, and it has neither a stock or a scope mount. It has to be fired from a tripod or vehicle mount. You don't pickup or modify a heavy machine gun and turn it in to a shoulder fired sniper rifle, and then hit a human target more than 500 yards beyond the weapon's maximum effective range against such a target. They were popular with snipers before the Barrett was made, simply because there were no bolt action rifles chambered for .50 at the time. I just looked it up... apparently Carlos Hathcock has a confirmed kill in Vietnam at 2500 yards with a scope on a browning machine gun. Obviously not an ideal "sniper" weapon and a very lucky shot.Having served on many gun crews, and emplacing/firing the M2 myself, I recall that it was 85lbs alone, 127 lbs with it's tripod, maximum effective range against a point target was 2000 yards, and it has neither a stock or a scope mount. Yes, fewer illegal immigrants working equates to more job opportunities for American citizens.

I dont have any experience with the new armor. But anything is probably a huge improvement over the body armor we had in the 90's. I poked cactus needles through mine on several occasions.Comment

WOW what a hero! sniping force drafted civilians from 2km
keeping the oil safe eeeeeer I meant to say keeping 'merica safe
I can not get over what a fucking hero he is...must take such balls to hide and open fire...
I mean there he was, sitting in his couch, minding his own business as 100.000-s of US bombs are poppin all over the world and suddenly, completely unprovoked by the 100.000-s of US bombs, a few planes hit WTC and he was like " 'merica under attack? fucking terrorists! pew pew pew" and he just had to go to iraq (that had nothing to do with the attack) and open a can of american double standard

I don't have any mixed feelings about a sniper doing his job to protect his fellow soldiers. Even though the US shouldn't have been there in first place, it's still a war and killing needs to get done. But when I read some of Kyle's quotes, he did seem to enjoy his job a little too much. But that won't stop me from seeing the movie to see how Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper depicted him.

If you are going to do it, do it and be done with it
Trident (missile) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaCarbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about thatComment

It may come to that eventually is this cancer spreads too far.If you are going to do it, do it and be done with it

If you have to go into another country and kill people that have every right to defend their own country, then do all you have to do in order to justify your actions and sleep well at night. When you start writing books for profit and brag about killing these people, then you are the lowest of the low. My 2cComment

Haven't seen the movie but I will say this...
Clint Eastwood has made some of the best CRITIQUES of "heroism" movies Hollywood has seen in the last 50+ years.
Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima are both anti war and anti hero.

I've seen this movie and I like it. I think many people think it is a propoganda and pro-war movie. But it's not. There's many aspects of this movie that are dark, disturbing, and very anti-war. The movie does not depict Chris Kyle as 100% hero. There's a spooky scene at the end where Chris Kyle walks around his house with a revolver and points it at his wife.
I do wish the movie covered some additional parts. Like the time he said he killed two carjcakers in Texas (never happened), or the time he said he was sniping off looters during Katrina (never happened), or the time he said he punched out Jessie Ventura (never happened and he got sued for defamation and lost). These events would actually fit into the movie to dipict Chris Kyle as a person who was damaged by the war.Comment

It's easy to tell by the way you jump in all the threads with your anti-american bullshit. Your country had a fucked up government and got a few hundred bombs dropped on it. It was 16 years ago, maybe you should move on.Comment
