FACT: People who watch "reality TVs" need a dose of reality YOUR LIFE SUCKS!

FACT If you watch ANY form of reality TV it is because you lead a very boring life so you are forced to "tune into" someone elses life just so you get a break from your boring meaningless life for a couple hours.

IF your wife/boyfriend watches it, it is because you are boring and they are tuning into other peoples lives and relationships secretly dreaming of a new life because you cannot cut it.

exactly i cant stand TV, it is horrid,

Almost nothing is a "reality" show other than documentary style shows anyway. TV people call those elaborate game shows "reality" shows because it's a different emmy nomination category.

Watching people race around the world in taxi's and planes to win $1million.. 100% Game show. Elaborate yes. Are the people really doing what we see? Of course, but it's a fucking game show with a big ass prize at the end and thats all it's about. When did you turn on amazing race and it shows someone sitting at a kitchen table sipping coffee for 20 minutes? Never, because it's a game show and thats all they focus on.

COPS? Yep, reality if there ever was reality. There's no prize, there's no stars, it's just cops on their real beat busting real idiots.

we have cable for the baby to watch discovery kids, and from time to time we will turn on CNN, but thats it.

Other than that, if its not a movie on DVD we dont see it.

I think your argument is flawed. What is the difference between reading a book about someones life vs watching it on TV? Is it because you trust the publishers more than the tv producers?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of "reality" TV. But fuck, it's all just something to do with your time. We can't always be working, partying, hanging out, or whatever. It is a release, a way to relax, a way to escape. Who are we to judge what others like? It is obvious that the masses like "reality" TV otherwise people wouldn't tune in.

books are fantasy in that you have to use your imagination to imagine the reality.

reality show key in on the exact parts of peoples lives that most people find boring, ie sex, relationships, drama.

people tune into these SOLELY to see what someone elses life i like. and they do this because they are obviously bored with their own.

Take 5 mongoloid fucks, a bunch of rednecks, a few paid hotties to act bisexual and toss them in a house for a month. What the fuck do you think would happen? This is why there are gang wars people... shit.

Anyway I hate TV in general. I watch Food Network (love cooking) and Battlestar Galactica. That's it.

Well you have a point there.

I do think a lot of people tune in to Reality shows like they show on MTV for the fact that it is entertaining to them to see the depths some will go to attain notoriety and fame at least that is about the only interesting thing that I would ever watch it for. And then there are others that don't want to think when the TV is on. Just veg out and escape the reality of their lives.

the writers strike really fucked all of us who don't watch reality tv, that's for sure.

I don't really watch Cops, but I turn it on from time to time because I enjoy seeing how fucked up other people can be and then it makes me feel more 'normal'... haha. But I love those shows like Max-X, Worlds Most Amazing Videos, Impact: Stories of Survival, Medical Miracles, etc. I think those are just about as close to reality as you can get.
