There are still a LOT of people against abortion and even those that may be pro-choice still could not bring themselves to terminate.

Why stop there? I know people well into their 40s who could use a good aborting.

good point - i can't imagine somebody doing that they would bring somebody into this world with those problems when it can be avoided

retarded children are great, they are more loving than regular kids - but they are like having a pet monkey - when they're young they're ok to deal with - a 50 year old angry frustrated male retard is another thing - and the parents by that time are either dead or too old to care for them.

I've had this argument with my wife. She's not anti-abortion in the slightest but I can certainly see her reluctance to abort something that you've nutured for months.. and named.. and planned the future of etc. As far as I'm concerned the planet is already overcrowded and I'm not for bringing someone into the world that will use a lot of resources and then die while I'm still alive and isn't able to carry my genes on properly.

well.. i thought it would be a tad less palatable to propose aborting a 40yr old. i was hoping to start with children who are technically minors and reliant on the parents decision as their legal guardians to do whats best for them (and hopefully, the rest of us).

next step of course would be court ordered abortions... then we would start creeping the age up. some progressive states of course might jump right to aborting adults. some won't. change takes time.

Downs Sydrome - they do have shorter life spans but I definitely know of some in their 50's - on the street where I grew up there was an elderly couple with a Downs daughter - she was in her 40's - not sure how long she lived cuz I moved away.
