If you're going to go green wait about 2 years. What's green then will make today's "green" look like gas guzzlers, so I say go with the new s class, and then go green in 2010 or 2011.
hybrids are overpriced right now, a smaller car that gets 30mpg would be financially more economical IMO.
diesel is a good choice but i bet they're over priced right now too
Hybrids would be great if they didn't cost $10,000 more than the std versions. If they actually did the MPG they print on the sticker and didn't produce more pollution during manufacture.
My Ford Escape Hybrid was supposed to do 33 mpg on the freeway and 36 in town. I did an 800 mile round trip to Vegas and got 26 mpg traveling at 69 mph on cruise control. In town I managed 22 MPG. Fuck that my Porsche does 26 on average
When a car company develops a vehicle that runs off a sunlight rechargeable Photo Voltaic system or a hydrogen fuel cell, stores enough energy to do 200 miles a day and can carry 4 people plus 4 suitcases in a spacious cabin. Then and only then will they have a viable alternative to Gas ?
icq. 176240424 44.years as a pornographer !!!!!!!!!!!
grab an s class diesel. im not sure if its available in the USA if thats where youare, but i know you can get ML320 CDI there and BMW is supposed to start introducing diesel models there.
Australia did some deal to crank out hybrid Camrys here. One commentator speculated that they were pitching at the wrong market, since green car buyers generally want people to KNOW they're green. A hybrid Camry looks the same as a petrol one.
(Personally, I wouldn't mind a hybrid, but I'm not the slightest bit interested in letting everyone else know about it... I'd want mine to look normal...)
When it is actually a good car instead of this shitty 30mpg or 40mpg crap they tout as amazing, which it's not. 70mpg, 100mpg.. then you're talkin.
Better off replacing your lightbulbs, buying a new refrigerator, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer. Those have made *actual* advances in just the last 5 years or so.
I say buy what you want and drive as much and as often with as few people in your car as fits your lifestyle.
"Going-Green" is just another term dreamed up by a marketing firm so people can feel better about themselves.
Ecologist are worried about the effects of what we do today and have no concern about the far reaching future. I bet if they were around millions of years ago they'd have bitched about rotting dinosaur corpses laying around and T-Rex shit stinking up the place. Thankfully they weren't and we have a vast oil supply today.
Nobody likes to see forest fires burning and they always make the news - but how rarely is it reported that those same fires actually help to develop new growth.
Your exhaust fumes might very well be the source of energy millions of years from now!
With the price of gas and diesel nowardays, I still don't understand why electric golf carts aren't on the streets. They are smaller and good for short distances...
I saw in Florence, Italy, a few of small electic cars. They look like eggs, but they can take you around cheaperly.
I'd like to post a pic, but I don't have it on the net, just in my pc.
