      Or he could've used 'gutless' and provided an easier understanding to a wider demographic.

        I wish I had been able to afford an education ... I love language and the use of language in prose ...

          A former co-worker (not the brightest bulb) would always stumble in his speech all the time, fumbling for the right word to use. I'd jump in with a $5 word that sounded similiar to what he was trying to think of, but meant something quite different. He'd repeat the sentence using the word and think it was right, not knowing any better.

          Used to crack us all up - and he never caught on.

          At first I felt a little bad making him look like a tool - but after awhile it just became good sport.
