I LOVE the holidays. I just got the lights up on my tree tonight and started decorating the house. I need to get all of the ornaments on the tree still. Do you have your tree up yet?

no yet, it won't last long enough if we put it up yet. i wish we could cut our own as it would last much longer but going to home depot is just easier. beautiful set up!
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
Huh? We get it around 23th of December. Looks like some follow the tradition of shops when they put them up early in order to generate revenue. Not cool.

When do you take it down? Too much work to put it up on 23rd and take it down on 26th.

Because I get my tree dec 1st and all the needles have fallen off by the 26th.
My point
Get it later and enjoy throughout the whole "holiday season". Not just the very beginning of it
And I bet it does not look too good on 24/25th as well, lol

Reminds me of when I was a kid we used to start breaking small branches off the tree about mid January and put them in the fireplace. Then the bare post would be standing until March.
I've had the tree up for a few days now, but it has no light or decorations. I wanted to make sure a certain member of the family could leave it alone...

Stage 2 is tonight...the lights. LOL
I hear that. My little girl is terrified of all the xmas stuff I made the mistake of playing the big bobble head santa for her. It sings and moves all around. It scared the shit out of her and now when she goes in that room it's pure terror.

My wife spends hours getting our tree just right, each bobble strategically placed. It doesn't look too impressive in this pic but it's the only one I took of it so far. It looks small here but it's 7 feet tall. Forgive the cables at the tv, I haven't hooked my surround sound up yet, been too lazy
Ours goes up this weekend. My parents have always had 2-3 trees in the house, so I would avoid it if at all possible. Unfortunately, with three kids that's not an option.

same what mineistaken said, but we put the tree up at 24th, day later. it is christians tradition, to put up the tree at 24th, or 23rd? always, period! not sure why people are putting it up now, but sure it is mostly in usa, where they really dont know nothing about traditions, as it looks like consumerist society, shopping and hunting for gifts are on the first place but nothing against it, depends on younger years, if you never got it traditionally, why to do it now you have a very nice tree and place anyway zuzana, congrats!
we got ours today and will decorate it on Thursday evening. Then it comes down on the 2nd or 3rd of Jan.
My wife likes to have the tree up all of December but yeah the first weekend in January, it's gone. No point having it up for too long after the festivities.
Both setting up and taking down a Christmas tree are associated with specific dates. Traditionally, Christmas trees were not brought in and decorated until Christmas Eve (24 December)[citation needed] or, in the traditions celebrating Christmas Eve rather than the first day of Christmas, 23 December, and then removed the day after Twelfth Night (5 January); to have a tree up before or after these dates was even considered bad luck.[citation needed]
In many areas, it has become customary to set up one's Christmas tree at the beginning of the Advent season.[55] Some families in the U.S. and Canada will put up a Christmas tree a week prior to American Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday of November), and Christmas decorations can show up even earlier in retail stores, often the day after Halloween (31 October). Some households do not put up the tree until the second week of December, and leave it up until 6 January (Epiphany). In Germany, traditionally the tree is put up on 24 December and taken down on 7 January, though many start one or two weeks earlier, and in Roman Catholic homes the tree may be kept until February 2 (Candlemas).
As I mentioned above, my parents always have multiple trees in the house. We cut one down one year and the guy told us it would stay alive for as long as we watered it.

As soon as I get the ornaments up I know my cats will start messing with stuff

Very pretty tree and Kitty I have a tabby that looks a lot like yours. We call him Dumb Dumb. I need to break out the cat's hoilday sweaters. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing my cats walk around with awesome sweaters on. Takes them a few hours to start walking right after I put them on though haha.
