I love BA airshows and thunderbird shows... nothing says freedom like seeing these pilots (top of their league) putting these planes through the manuvers they do...

ive had a chance to take a ride in Fat Albert..

the one on the bottom good times....

you can leave a tennis ball on your lap during takeoff and once you hit the top of the parabelumn it just floats ... good times.....

little something on the angels ... few years ago when number 7 plane crashed at the show.. you see all the other planes come back to look for him then they see him down and go into the maneuver they train for to mark the position of the down plane....

what was so sad to me is that was their number 7 that had crashed.. one of their own and these guys fell right into proper procedure right away.. number 1 shot up with smoke the rest cleared the air space and circled the site... was just so sad cause you know the adrenaline as well as the emotion they were all feeling and to just leave all that behind and fall into procedure on one of their own... that video chokes me up every time I see it let me see if I can find it.....

I was at the Farnborough airshow in the UK a few years ago - No Blue Angels, but they did have a solo FA18 Super Hornet doing two shows a day. Absolutely amazing stuff, but what really struck me was what happened on the ground.

Nothing. Literally, nothing. The pilot would taxi back to his parking, the couple of ground crew would put the chocks and covers on, and basically the pilot would walk away, job done til the next show.

Which, in contrast to the pile of shit, known as Eurofighter was utterly different. Pre-flight and post-flight, every hatch and cover would be open and about 100 techs would be fiddling with it. And it only mangaged one flight per day!

That and fact the the EF looked liked a badly patched fibreglass canoe when you got up close leads me to believe, if you are ever in the market for some serious airpower, go for the FA18, if you want to save on servicing!

Was supposed to have the Vulcan bomber there but they had to cancel that oh well
