    Ssd/hdd

I know it was invented in 2008, I know many have converted, put it on my not liking to intrude into my prefect macbook pro 2009 ( LOL ) . . .

But anyway, if I replace a 160GB HDD for a 256GB SSD in the macbook pro 2009 will I really be blown away with the new speed or it's only peanuts? I have 8GB RAM installed
    running Antisemite OS.

It's recommended to install your OS on a SSD and the rest of your data on a normal harddisk.
I don't know why, I guess because a SSD is still pretty expensive.

I found that after building a new Windows 8 system using an SSD exclusively I was a bit underwhelmed. Doesn't seem to be that much different to the old 7200RPM mechanical HD I had.

I use an SSD in one of my servers for a database which needs constant access, and in that case it is FAST.

I just swapped my old HD for an 1TB SSD in my 2011 iMac 27 and love it. Super fast, super quiet, and now cooler too. Money well spent.

My desktop still old school as don't do anything too intensive on it, will go to SSD when it's time to buy a new one though down the road. My server is SSD though as a shitload of database queries to it.

SSD= faster boot, faster read/write, quieter, more durable to temp extremes/dropping since no mechanical parts, fragmentation doesn't matter as well as SSD can pull data from any location quick, etc...
