I did change the hard drive when it was 7 years old and windows crashed. To me if I was doing a clean reinstall why not replace the HD.

2 computers ago my hp tower ran my business worked for 8 years. I did upgrade the memory, HD and OS (from 95 to XP) and had to replace a fan.
