The jews were chasing jesus all throughout the gospel of john. At the end, the jews bribed judas to turn him over. Judas and the jews (not romans) arrested jesus and took him to the pontius pilate, the roman governor.

I understand discussing religion on a porn forum is retarded to say the least, but I'm amazed about the lack of knowledge displayed in this thread. Just to avoid a long religion history class, let's say the gospels were written way after John, Matthew, Luke and Mark died. Those are the synoptic gospels accepted by Church. All those written in life of Jesus aren't accepted, including the "Q", Thomas gospel, some of the apocryphal gospels and of course, the Manuscripts from Qumran which are secret and in a safe in the Vatican (go figure).
So, the accepted gospels were wrote to allow the Christian sects to be part of the recognized religions in Rome, hence they don't speak bad of Rome and they set the basis to become polytheist (slightly disguised) since Romans would never accept a monotheist religion. That being said, everything said on the gospels could be true or could be a lie. Since the gospels wrote on life of Jesus are secret and the Vatican will never accept them and they only accept those wrote way after Jesus time, I'd incline to say most of what gospels say is fake.
Oh, and Jesus was a jew, take some time to read the Bible and even those canonical gospels and you'll read how Jesus was a Torah doctor and he just tried to be an ultra-orthodox jew. And as we're at it, Jewish religion is just a (bad) compendium of Assyrian and Aegyptian religions with some rules and laws for community life. Ok even Christians get this wrong. Judas was NOT a traitor he was doing what Jesus told him to do. Jesus had every intention of becoming a martyr. He chose Judas because Judas was his most trusted desciple and he could trust Judas to actually do what needed to be done. Tt's funny that Christians understand why they called the day Jesus died as GOOD Fridday because without his death the new convenent with God can't be fulfilled. Yet they don't get if Judas doesn't turn Jesus in there can't be any Good Friday.Comment
