Maybe the stitches from Wayne Newton's latest facelift snapped and his face actually fell to it's normal position and hit the ground with such force it was felt throughout the city...that man REALLY has overdone it!

Good lord, Mark...your ignorance knows no bounds. NO, it's not man-made. Unreal that you think that humans can actually cause earthquakes.

There is this thing called "Google". You may have heard of it. And if you search for "frequency of earthquakes in las vegas" this is what you can find (or you could just keep spouting nonsense from MSNBC):

"The State of Nevada is located in ?earthquake country.? It lies within the Basin and Range Province, one of the most seismically active regions in the United States. Along with California and Alaska, Nevada ranks in the top three states subject to the most large earthquakes over the last 150 years.

Magnitude 3 and 4 earthquakes are commonly felt, but rarely cause damage. Minor to moderate damage can accompany a magnitude 5 or 6 event, and major damage commonly occurs from earthquakes of magnitude 7 and greater. Although earthquakes do not occur at regular intervals, the average frequency of earthquakes of magnitude 6 and greater in Nevada has been about one every ten years, while earthquakes of magnitude 7 and greater average once every 27 years.

Geologically young faults, which are the sources of earthquakes, can be found throughout the state. Although the largest historical earthquakes occurred some distance from population centers, no part of the state is far from a potential source of large earthquakes. Large earthquakes occurring along the borders of Nevada, such as the 1872 Owens Valley earthquake in California (magnitude 7¾?8), can also cause strong shaking and damage in Nevada. Large earthquakes have occurred in Nevada in the recent past and more will occur in the near future."

How Oil and Gas Disposal Wells Can Cause Earthquakes

                                          http://stateimpact.npr.org/texas/tag/earthquake/

The culprit of earthquakes near fracking sites is not believed to be the act of drilling and fracturing the shale itself, but rather the disposal wells. Disposal wells are the final resting place for used drilling fluid. These waste wells are located thousands of feet underground, encased in layers of concrete. They usually store the waste from several different wells. There are more than 50,000 disposal wells in Texas servicing more than 216,000 active drilling wells, according the the Railroad Commission. Each well uses about 4.5 million gallons of chemical-laced water, according to hydrolicfracturing.com.

?The model I use is called the air hockey table model,? says Cliff Frohlich, a research scientist at the Institute for Geophysics at the University of Texas at Austin. ?You have an air hockey table, suppose you tilt it, if there?s no air on, the puck will just sit there. Gravity wants it to move but it doesn?t because there friction [with the table surface].?

But if you turn the air on for the air hockey table, the puck slips.

?Faults are the same,? he says. If you pump water in a fault, the fault can slip, causing an earthquake.

?Scientists in my community know that injection can sometimes cause earthquakes,? Frohlich says.

Glad you enjoyed the red meat.

To the "man-made" earthquake folks in here trolling...Earthquakes are caused by giant plates of the Earth actually shifting.

I'm not talking about the ground shaking (like from an explosion nearby for instance)...but an ACTUAL Earthquake.

Mankind can no more cause the Earths plates to shift than a flea can lift an elephant.

Fracking. Really? You guys will believe anything. You are the perfect marks for a con man.

I just read that whole report.

And from what I read...it's basically some scientists being paid to find that fracking is somehow causing earthquakes. And "surprise" one quote of a scientist paid by oil companies to say it doesn't.

So far they have "linked" fracking to Earthquakes (that coincidentally are occurring in areas where earthquakes have always occurred).

If you read the article you'll notice the words "linked", "might" and "maybe" are used quite often along with: "potential" , "capable", "may" and a lot of other words that mean they don't know.

Maybe you guys are correct. And maybe human beings are causing earthquakes along with "climate change".

I have severe doubts. But if you guys are 100% convinced, then God bless you. (I don't believe in God either lol)
