I wonder if no one commented on these types of stories and if the news reported on such stories but didn't spend more than a few minutes on them and gave as much time to a beheading story as they would to a animal mauling?
These are tragedies, no question... but treating them as more important than the usual violent fatalities that plague our society seems to make them more important and more special. Our current attitudes (and the last 15 years especially) towards terrorism has just emboldened these idiots and they really feel empowered by our reactionary fear of them. They get under our skin and we don't just scratch we pour gasoline on our own arm and light it.... they are banking on these reactions. Al-Quaeda never wanted to plant their flag on the Capitol, they wanted to cripple our economy and use us to destabilize the Middle East. They achieved their objective. ISIL appears to have the same objective.Comment

I misplaced my scorecard. How many be-headings have there been so far? Has it hit double-digits? Granted, it sucks for the guy getting beheaded, but if you stay the fuck out of Syria, Iraq, Somalia and a few other select countries you have a way better chance of dying by falling out of bed than by being be-headed by a terrorist group.
I'm taking 3 days off next week and I hear the opium is great in Kabul, Afghanistan. But am I going there? No - I'm going to Phuket. People who go to war zones run a much bigger risk of being beheaded than those who do not. It's as simple as that.Comment

As horrible as it is, it's only a problem now because they have beheaded a few white people. They (Arabs) behead their own people all the time and no one gives two shits. To give perspective, according to the CDC, around 1600 Americans will die TODAY of heart disease. 180 will die TODAY from Diabetes. Fuck all cares about any of that. Lets whip our panties in a bunch and go to war over a couple beheadings! Makes sense.
Should they be stopped, sure. Let the rich (Arab) oil nations hire mercenary groups to fight them. The USA (and EU) should stay out of this and focus on what is killing their own people first, like fast food, smoking, prescription drugs, and high fructose corn syrup.Comment

Like, he worked all his life in taxi (probably not too smart guy as he couldn't find anything better), but he, like, had a dream, quit work, found the way to the battle zone of Syria (multiple planes, trains and hiking in the middle of desert), found there an employer who gave him aid to move to the poor Syrians, and all this by himself. This should be quite enterprising driver, fuckin' James Bond of taxi drivers.

Just using one example. But here is one that may better fit:
In the USA, three people are killed by a gun per hour and almost seven people are shot every 60 minutes.
Do the math on that, it's a hell of a lot worse than a couple of beheadings over the course of a few weeks or a thousand weak Iraqi soldiers who laid down their weapons and were murdered. Bedsides, in regards to the Iraqis, the US has been killing them for almost a decade. Now it's a problem when someone else does.Comment

- The USA/NATO bombed Serbs and supported Islamists in Yugoslavia. Result: criminal country Kosovo.
- The USA/NATO overthrown legitimate government in Libya and supported Libyan Islamits. Result: an ass-raped and killed ambassador.
- The USA/NATO have invaded Iraq and overthrown legitimate government there. After that they supported Islamists in Syria. Result: ISIS

Ok but I have a question: is there no blood, no real violence, except the final "shot" (often of a still pics) of the beheaded "hostage"?
The IS never had any compunction about filming and not editing out the whole gory mess. Why with these slick, edited, post-produced "statement" beheadings do *they* cut away? Why not release these "IS Commercials" without fading to black on the first "cut" and let the western media outlets do the editing/fuzzing jobs?
