I wonder if no one commented on these types of stories and if the news reported on such stories but didn't spend more than a few minutes on them and gave as much time to a beheading story as they would to a animal mauling?
These are tragedies, no question... but treating them as more important than the usual violent fatalities that plague our society seems to make them more important and more special. Our current attitudes (and the last 15 years especially) towards terrorism has just emboldened these idiots and they really feel empowered by our reactionary fear of them. They get under our skin and we don't just scratch we pour gasoline on our own arm and light it.... they are banking on these reactions. Al-Quaeda never wanted to plant their flag on the Capitol, they wanted to cripple our economy and use us to destabilize the Middle East. They achieved their objective. ISIL appears to have the same objective.
