    This is just fucking sick

                                              Getting back to the topic at hand, paid snitching has been going on for ages - there is nothing new about it other than the practice being more widely publicized, and utilizing new methods, such as the internet, cellphones, etc.

                                              There are far more informants than most people realize - they are literally everywhere...

                                              On the one hand that's bad (lack of privacy, etc), but on the other, many crimes are solved / criminals apprehended in large part due to information from informants.
