    Legalities of a public blacklist?

what i mean by blacklist is me posting the ppl who have either scammed me or ppl i know and posting the story from our perspective

what are the legalities of having a public blacklist? is it slander? if i only post facts as i know it make it not-slander? etc etc..

i want to shitlist some people but dont want any legal recourse.. not that it would affect me really, but it would stress me out to deal with it...

If you post facts you will be ok but when you get sued you will need evidence to support the facts you posted.

think about the people that make up weird crap to harm their competition.. you'll get caught up in all that stuff, not to mention the crazy fuckers that imagine stuff. seems like a real creepy door to open.

Well,i planned to make a site which will list scammer cases, icq's,sites, mails etc...For example, you will type someone icq and see is that person ok to do biz or not.But it will consume toomany resources and nervous. But again,it will be very helpful to reduce entire scam ratio.

i think we do need to have such list so we have less scamming in our industry.
                adult bbb would be good.
seriously, we have been scammed several times.
so if we have a site where we can cross reference, it would help us in the long run.

If you make statements about speciffic persons and events, the speciffic persons are legally entitled to challenge the factuality of your account in court, and assess damages. This is here to stay.

You will have to defend the factuality of your statements, to the satisfaction of the court.

In most jurisdictions you can require a cautionary deposit of some kind, to cover for your legal expenses should the case be thrown out.

People will threaten legal action, but rarely will they mount it, and even if they do, it's not too bad, if you like the smell of courthouse in the morning. Otherwise, it's not actually worth it, from your business perspective, which is why people don't usually do it.

(This from someone that regularly buys local paper page ads to publicly shit on people that got in her way. YMMV.)

i doubt anyone would sue, most people are all talk. with that said, if someone scams you, learn a lesson and move on.
