could be , it could also be that he paid full price for a ticket after they promised him a seat , they then took the seat back from him mid-flight forcing him to sit in the bathroom.
So he went to a lawyer to sue and rightly so , he was promised a seat , and didnt get it. at the very least they owe him a plane ticket.
Now of course a lawyer is going to say " hey you need to be compensated for all the other people who have been ripped off"

If this is true, then the airline is in WAY more trouble with the FAA then some money lawsuit. It says clearly in the regs all passengers must have a seat with a seatbelt.

He could of let him sit in the jump seat but he forced him to hold up in the tiny toilet. That's not safe and probably against company policy. I've been told to get out of the bathroom and take my seat when turbulence was expected.
He should win. If they put me in the bathroom I'd be like wtf too... Another reason jetBlue sucks donkey balls.Comment

If before flight, and he boarded anyhow, then he's a pylon with a much weaker case.
If during flight, he simply should have refused citing regulations (that are surely public knowledge) against it ... and then the lawsuit is probably his, though $2M is ludicrous.Comment

Doesn't ring true. Airlines can't give passengers the jump seat, and crew sit in them all the time. One of my best friends works for United, and if she decided halfway across the Atlantic that she didn't feel like sitting in the jump seat to the destination, it wouldn't matter.Comment

she offered a regular seat to the guy, the stewardess was not working , she was just flying as a regular passenger, she decided to give up her seat and take the jump seat instead because she is an employee and can take the jump seat.

He was probably one of these customer is always right assholes who wouldn't just get another flight. He likely bitched and moaned a hell of a lot to get one of the flight attendants to give up her seat.

No, she wasn't flying as a regular passenger, if she was, they would not have put her in the jump seat, period. If she had paid for a ticket, full price, then she was booked into a seat and that would be that. If she was flying standby -- which 99.9% of airline people do (because the ticket is dirt cheap) -- then she gets what she gets, and if the airline has a revenue passenger, they get priority for seats over standby employees. The only exception would be an employee being moved from one point to another by the airline -- in which case the airline assigns them regular seats at no cost, and that's where they sit for the flight.
Like I said, one of my best friends flies for United, and the FAA has rules, before the airlines do, about who can sit where. On United, American and USAir (just to name three that I am sure of), employees are not allowed to standby into first class -- or the jumpseat -- if they are wearing jeans. Company policy.
I use companion standby tickets when I'm going somewhere and I don't care when I get there, or I am off on a lark -- sometimes I get first class, sometimes I get the back of the bus. Non-employees aren't allowed to sit in jump seats. And no one is allowed to sit in a toilet.Comment

I favor the passenger, he should not have been told to go in the bathroom for the remainder of the flight, first off, its not safe and doesn't follow safety regulations and they should be sued based on that alone. to top it all off, the guy was embarrassed cause he had to sit on the john for 4 hours witch i would find humiliating . if the airline wanted to spare themselves the trouble they should have told the "employee" witch was traveling on reduced fair for sure to sit back and let paying customers on and they can take the next flight out.... like it works in every other airline.
I hope this guy gets payed more then 2 mill, companies like this should be shut down.
Unless this is all bullshit and this never really happened..but to be told to go " Hang Out " in the bathroom is grounds for a lawsuit on its own.Comment
