Tech Help: Virtual Wndows Desktops With Unlimited Storage?

Trying out Cloudservers.com but they are sucking big fat donkey balls. Their cheapest plan comes with 20 gig of storage and their most expensive plan only comes with 100 gig of storage! WTF man, I can get more space than that from an external hard drive. I think my 2TB drive cost me $129. LOL

So who can recommend a Windows Virtual Desktop host with unlimited storage (or mass storage, 1TB+)?

you wont find anything cheap with a ton of storage you might as well get a cheap ass un managed dedicated server with windows on it.

Yes if you really need a huge space none of cloud/backup/whatever services would do,you just need to get a dedicated server with your own hard drivers.Tho copy.com with 15$ monthly and 500 gb is not bad.

storage is very costly, not only takes it space but it also deteriorates, so it keeps costing you

As others have said there no such thing as unlimited.

Yeah 'unlimited' is unrealistic but 1TB+ storage seems doable.

Thing with Windows Desktop licenses is they cost $1000 for 5 licenses. I need like 6-8 virtual desktops for my Uploaders.

Unless you aim to have different server for each uploader - you could assemble one "monster" server with "monster" storage and create user interface for each uploader with properly set rights so their data/work dont conflict.

I agree - but my programmer seems to think my Uploaders, who are all in the Phillipines and working on Windows 7 machines, might have trouble logging in to a non-Windows server/virtual desktop. But all they have to do, really, is login and open a browser....or am I missing something here (quite possible LOL).

Right now we are looking at setting up 2-4 seperate cloudserver.com accounts to handle the workload BUT this would mean me having to upload the same videos 4 times.

get a dedicated box instead with 2tb storage.

btw why are you focusing on cloud/virtual though ? you can create virtuyal machine inside dedicted box , if you are looking for something fast re-installation or something like that ....

Well good question. LOL I guess because I wanted simple and to not use the dedi server I have for my paysites.

Of course, trying to make something simple is turning into something complicated.

it wont cost you $10 a month tho

so yes simple can be done

Well to be honest money is not an issue. This is about increased productivity for my workers, which should result in higher overall revenues.

Name a company or two that could 'set this up for me' please?

Uploading to what? a tubesite? can't they just upload directly to the tubesite? this doesn't sound right. The only reason you would need windows is if you needed to run windows dependent software. i.e. xrumer etc. Make sure your programmer doesn't have ulterior motives, like setting up a spam farm or something.

Filipinos can always be trusted - to say whatever they think you want to hear and do whatever the fuck they want.

LOL Well the issue is my editor UPloads to my dedi server now, the Uploaders then DOWNload the content directly to their machines. THEN they turn around and upload to various tube sites. So instead of wasting all that time downloading I want them to be able to just upload to the tubes direct from my server.

That make sense? LOL

So I thought a virtual situation, where they could login and just open a browser and grab the files from the desktop would work but having issues now. (My programmer is American, only the Uploaders are in the Philipines, with slow Internet connections - another reason to have them upload from somewhere else, a virtual or dedi.)
