This guy is so full of shit. He starts out by saying that welfare has destroyed the black community and is the cause of why so many black people live in poverty and are in jail. Horseshit! Nobody is forcing these people to take the welfare. Nobody is forcing them to commit crimes. I won't pretend that that isn't a racial bias in our judicial system, I'm confident that there is, but you still need to commit the crime in order to find yourself in the system.
He then goes on to say how the republicans are great because they want less government (which is never the case. Every republican president in modern times has grown the size of the government. Hell, the last republican president not only oversaw the passage of the largest piece of big government legislation ever - the patriot act - he added an entire new branch to the government - homeland security) and they want people to take personal responsibility for their actions and do the right thing. In short, he wants people to make choices. So somehow if you are a republican you will make the right choice and you will be a father to your kids and get a job and be a productive member of society and yet if you are democrat you will you somehow be forced to choose to live a life of crime and poverty.
It's all crap. This guy was a republican for years. Then in 2007 he switched to being a democrat so that he could run and win in a district that was heavily democratic. Later he switched back. He didn't suddenly change his mind because he saw a greater good on the other side of the aisle, he switched to the left to keep his job and get elected again, then switched back to the right, likely for some kind of political gain.
Sorry for the rant, but to me this guy is a prime example of a guy who has spent a very long time in public office and is willing to do whatever it takes to stay there.
I say outlaw all political parties. Make everyone an independent.
