There are a good number of scenes in Jarhead that are simply a ripoff from scenes in Full Metal Jacket.

Soldiers in ?Jarhead? are trying to have a war similar to what they have seen in movies like ?Full metal jacket? and ?Apocalypse now?. ?Jarhead? is not copying ?Full metal jacket?? Soldiers are doing it. That is the point of the movie. It is actually pretty obvious.

Jarhead was horrible. I almost fell asleep while watching it. I stopped watching before it was completely over.

Jarhead was a decent movie.
It had a huge amount of american-flag waving and bullshit in it to begin with, but the ending, esp. w/ the viet vet hopping on the returning bus: powerful.

Had nothing to do w/ FMJ.

I didn't like Jarhead at all, but the reason they are so similar is because they are both based on the Marines.

Bingo. The thing about jarhead is that it reminded me exactly of stories (and pics)a kid I met told me right after he returned from Desert Storm. Made me think it was his movie.

The only thing it had in common with Full Metal Jacket was the USMC.

Watch the two movies... you'll notice some very similar scenes... that's all I'm sayin.

It's basically the same story.

Jarhead was a piece of trash. Nothing happened in the entire movie. Perhaps that's the point. But I think the writers, directors, and producers failed to realize that what people expect in a movie is either some action or a story. Jamie Fox alone is not a movie.

I love the line from the shower scene, "ahhh, look, its like a cock but smaller" lol
Its visually impressive as well...but now I have to rent full metal jacket again bc its been a while since i've seen it...
