Porn isn't Donny's or anyone else's enemy here. It's human frailty and lack of self governing in so many people that is to blame. Had this girl Donny is on about -- and Donny himself for that matter -- had an ounce of control and a modicum of knowing what's best for themselves and those within his sphere of influence, their time spent inside "the evil world of porn" would have been vastly different.

You can delude yourself into thinking that were it not for porn this girl's life wouldn't have been messed up, but the facts speak for themselves. The girl herself, coupled with all those in her past who had a hand in messing with her head, and Donny himself for his role in taking advantage of her when he just as easily could have been a coach and advisor, are the real culprits in this story. If porn didn't exist then someone like her could very easily have become a drug addict, prostitute, or more likely both.

I'll say it again one last time. Your crusade against porn is misguided and futile. If you want more young women to stop entering the business you need to work on what drives them to it in the first place, and then much like the counselling that women must receive before being allowed access to an abortion, you counsel them towards a different path and then let them decide for themselves. You might also try to figure out a way to offer them an alternative means of making $300 to $1500+ per day. :D

Sadly, you don't see it CDSmith, but because people are really screwed up doesn't mean we don't try to reduce the damage they do to themselves by making things like methamphetamine more difficult to obtain.

Porn harms just as much as meth, CD. Brain science demonstrates that it rewires the neural pathways in the brain in exactly the same way an addiction to heroin rewires the neural pathways in the brain.

Yep, we've got lots of problems. That doesn't mean that simply because there are so many alternative areas in which we can fight for a plethora of causes, we don't pick a battle to fight and start fighting it. Pornography is seen as "no big deal" and "everyone does it," so people just consume it like nothing else. I and others are here to educate people. It DOES harm lives. It DOES rewire the brain. It DOES make people see others more as objects than as people. It DOES harm marriages and lead to greater infidelity.

While I did indeed post links to articles online that are written more for the regular consumer than the academic, you'll notice I referenced peer reviewed, scientific studies. You didn't do that. You linked only to articles in which the opinion of the writer is shared. When I challenged you to do research, that's not what I meant. I mean get into the actual, scientific studies. Even if a doctor is writing an opinion piece... it's still an opinion piece. Studies overwhelmingly show porn devastates lives. I realize you like it. I realize you want to justify being a part of it. I get it: you don't want to give up your lifestyle, and you wish to reject the facts. But after this thread you cannot deny that you were made aware of evidence that shows what you do impacts people just as badly as meth.

What you don't seem to see is that what I'm doing is EXACTLY what you recommend: educating people and giving them reasons to stay away from something harmful. I'm not trying to legislate, but only to educate and then let people decide if they REALLY want to be part of such a harmful supply-and-demand cycle.

Porn like other pleasurable human activities like eating, drinking, gambling, exercise, work can be addictive to some people who are most likely psychologically and biologically predisposed but that doesn't mean we take alcohol and poker away from the millions of people who enjoy them and lead productive happy lives.

Meth kills, heroin kills, they are powerful chemicals that damage/affect the body's organs and tissues. 'Rewiring the neural pathways' doesn't kill, what neuroscience is discovering every day now is that MANY things humans do and experience 'rewire the neural pathways'.

If 2% of the population develops a true porn addiction that's unfortunate but like the problem drinker and the problem eater there are professionals and programs out there to help treat their addiction.

It already IS illegal. The laws just aren't enforced. They have been on the books for about as long as most of us have been alive.

That said, I often speak and write that legislation isn't my aim. People's hearts aren't changed through legislation. Education is how hearts are changed. And more and more people are waking up to the human costs of porn. In fact, I just landed in West Palm Beach to speak at a convention on the relationship between porn and human trafficking. These are happening all over.
