.XXX meeting with Google to force changes?

Word on the street is that ICM has met with Google several times on creating a porn ghetto, which they will control. It was a matter of time.

In this world there are legal impediments to sharing certain information based on agreement or contract.

I can quite happily tell you that changes are coming that many people in porn won't like.

What I cannot tell you is what they might look like.

I'll keep out of these threads from now on, it's a pointless exercise trying to hint away that now might be a good time to think about how to do business without relying on Bing and Google.

Not being rude or anything here, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, you don't know anything that Google is going to do.

I sat on an Adult Adwords advisory panel with 15 other adult industry heads at the Google campus in Mountain View. I've eaten in their cafeterias; helped them make new Adult Policy; talked at length over email with the people who handle all the policy for Adult Adwords; and have several other connections inside Google. Blah blah blah.

They do not tell ANYONE outside of Google anything.

To insinuate you know something inside Google is nothing more than speculation.

              That is a fact.

              No offense.

Just so I can clarify/understand - you have signed a legal contract with google, in regards to something to do with the adult results that will be returned?

They don't share any information. I'm serious. You can be best buds with people inside Google, and you will get nothing. Lot's of people like to pretend that they get inside info from Google, but beyond some extra hints and tips with regards to Ad Groups and copy, no one is ever going to tell an advertiser anything, especially adult ones.

They are like Joe Friday in Dragnet; Just the Facts. All business.

As far as why ads are not running, Morality In Media is my best guess. Seems to be the most relevant argument to the discontinuation.

If you get a site suspension or penalty applied to you, your buds cannot help you. They operate that place with so many "Chinese Walls" that even the staff don't know what is happening.

BareBacked, I don't have any ads now actually. There has been no other information come my way. No ads are running. I don't handle our media buying though, so I'll ask our MB on Monday for you. I'm happy to let you know if we hear of any changes.

Around 30% traffic is directed to porn. and its a niche which drench into our daily life can't even cancel out. Maybe Google ban all adult adwords because alot of reasons? expense to monitor those adult keywords are over the profit? Maybe too much scammers? Maybe adult is always playing without rules? Who knows, or maybe google wanna IPO another brand for Finance purpose and adult business wont look too promising for a mainstream brand so they need to ban adword porn related stuff? WHo knows. Too many maybes, so I dont worry about that, but one thing I am sure is 30% of internet traffic is Porn, and google own big chunk, if they ban all porn site, eventually those 30% will go to any growing search engines which smart and brave enough to play with the fire. I think Google wont sacrifice a nice chunk of market share over some moral shit. So I do not believe organic adult keywords will be much different, because thats traffic and google is all about traffic. But its different story if a big corporation making money off porno companies, then it sounds not so good.

But if ICM is meeting with Google, then my assumption is mostly censorship. It has been many years since google is fighting censorship, I sue u and u sue me situation because I am afraid my children will land on a porno site for mistake, that makes sense and I too think it should have a filter or firewall or block to not allow minor to access porn, thats why Google comes up with safe search, but its not even effective cuz DUH the kids still can click Safe Search Off and continue their journey when parents away from home. But besides a safe search function what else can Google do? They are smart but they dont know yet. So here comes .XXX, it will be a permanent problem solve if all I MEAN ALL explicit contents websites enforce mainly and only on .XXX extension, then thats very easy to filter on Google side, they can publish a Google PG13 product or Google Safe or Google Parent, wutever shit they come up with, or even intergrate into Chrome, allow parents to totally keep all the .XXX sites not even show up, not even have any ways to see it if u are under 13 on any google, no safe search, non.

Thats what I think is all about. ICM will solve that... Looking at only .com it is really too general through all these years. good .com, bad .com... so I think it will come to an end, Specific content on specific extension makes something more professional and easy to patrol.

                                      Thats only my thought...

The reason why google ditched porn on adwords it is probably because someone were abusing system too much,or bought traffic to send into illegal sites and they got into trouble due it.Unlike ordinary se rankings they have some responsibility as they preview url before approving it.

I was just thinking , a few months ago I received a newsletter from Femjoy saying that they've banned webmasters who highjacked Google Adwords keywords with femjoy in it and the referral link. Maybe others a doing the same , keyword highjacking etc. etc. and companies like Femjoy went against Google to stop the campaigns and so on.

I think Google Adwords for Adult was becoming too much of a hassle for G. so they shoot two rabbits with one bullet: they have relieved themselves from the hassle with verifying campaigns and in the same time made MIM happy....

Just my two cents, but adult is a declining business for Google like everyone else. The amount of revenue adult ad words brought in were no longer worth the trouble to Google. Having to have special employees that would review the adult stuff, the constant trademark complaints, the constant complaints from religious types about models that looked too young or content that was too extreme and then believe it or not even people that got their CCs whacked by sites they found through Google Ads complained to them about getting their cards whacked. Adult simply didn't pay for its high overhead anymore so Google canned it.

Truthfully, I think good things are about to happen in adult and that is why I came back. Adwords for adult isn't the future it is the past.
