Hot or Not My New Toy/Project

A few days ago I came across this sweet ride and a deal that was too good to pass up on. A 1982 Cadillac DeVille (Snoop DeVille) that was garage kept and babied by the Grandpa who owned it, only owner. Clean title, just under 52k original miles, all leather interior with no rips, all power features and all works, no dents/bondo, no paint fade or sun damage. Passed smog with flying colors and rides/floats like a dream. A/C blows ice cold, actually colder than my Acura does (this might need to be checked). Original radio even works and seems to play cassette tapes. It does have 2 small cosmetic issues on the bumper fins, but have already located the parts and total is under $100 for both, I figure another 1 - 200 to have them sprayed to match.

Paid $1500 for this new toy, less than half of what low blue book is and way under blue book value for its condition.

Still thinking about what I want to do with it, but I'm thinking a mix of old school lowrider and Goodfellas. Thoughts?

That red interior would look nice surrounded by a black paint job. I'd keep the red pin strip too

Thanks, while not quite my dream projects (a 76-77 coupe Deville or any 79 or older convertible Biarritz), this was to damn sweet of a deal to pass up. I seem to have a knack for finding these gems. A while back I picked up a 76 2 door Cutlass Supreme with the 350 rocket engine/transmission for $700, smogged it, new (used tires) and flipped 3 weeks later for 3k. Kinda wish I kept it tho. That baby smoked up the streets with ease

Black or a dark dark midnight blue are in my thoughts, want to see how they look 1st. However I am leaning towards keeping it silver but getting one of them shiny candy paint jobs on it. Will do that no matter the color I go with.

Similar to this minus the orange

I am also considering a sliding rag phantom top...

One thing for sure is, I will not be putting over sized wheels or turning into a candy bar advertisement. No donks for me.

So many options, so little money... 1st world problems right

What condition is all the chrome in? A dark colour will make the shiny bits stand out and any defects on the chrome more noticeable.

always liked these old school american cars. And for an almost spotless car this old, with that low mileage, it's a very good deal as well.

                      look after it

as if you do not mess it up you may make a nice profit.

i bet you could get a lot of cash selling it to the uk as we have a big usa base near me and they love big cars. and they have cash.

get the timer belt changed though as it will need doing. otherwise it may snap and become very expensive.

I should have mentioned that this car wasn't purchased for everyday use. It is more of a project and weekend cruising car for me.

I will have to look at the paperwork for the exact engine specs, but yes it is a V-8.

While they are neat looking cars they have to be some of the worst designed cars ever made. Who puts a 130 hp v8 in a super heavy car? Hopefully they put something better in yours.
Finally got around to checking, it has the HT-4100 V8 with 170hp. So not too much better than yours I guess, but lucky for me I have no intentions on speeding around the city or doing 100mph with it. I have a Acura if I wanna speed and bend corners.

A buddy of mine had that car back in the day. I remember the kid kept a nasty mattress in the trunk for banging his hoes.
