We must have war and other catastrophes. Being the only species without any natural predators, besides viruses and the occasional dip shit who gets eaten by a shark, it's the only thing that keeps our population in check.
The population is currently over 6 billion. Can you imagine what it would be today if WWI and WWII hadn't have happened?
