Usually around 4-5k. This kind of question is as meaningless as "what is a good conversion ratio" though, because it totally depends on your traffic. I have one site with lots of traffic but ratios in the 1:2k area, so sending 4k to see if a new site will convert or not isn't really a big deal.Comment

I don't think there is one good answer to this question. The variables may include:
1. What type of traffic you are sending.
2. Where the traffic is leaving from on your page. (banner, text link, exit console, etc.)
3. What type of site you are sending the traffic to.
4. How targeted the traffic is.Comment

I usually try with around 100k. If after sending 100k traffic there are no signups that one goes to another site.

i usually hit programs for 5-7 days .. see what happens, b/c its good to take into account bad scrub days, bad sales days, bad day for saturation.
then I contact that program and see what we can do, and if they have any other recommendations.
