    Why are all these Chinese people counter-protesting?

    I don't get it.. Are they like the pro-communists of China, the government lovers? Or do they just really love the Olympics? Or maybe they just hate to see shit happen at a public event?

    Like I thought Chinese people were all oppressed and shit, why are they attacking the protesters?

    They remind me of the half of Americans that will vote Republican soon.

      Because some are forced by communist authorities to do so, some are brainwashed into thinking communism is good, some are nationalist thinking China's pride is hurt, most just have shit for brains (especially in the rural area) and therefore easy to manipulate, and many have no idea that China occupied Tibet in force after WWII.

              Not too sure about that, I mean not like they don't have the police etc, doubt they're forcing plainsclothes people to counter protest, they have mad military for that.

              I bet we think they're forcing people to do shit like that because OUR media brainwashes us into seeing those kinds of things, telling us it happens, etc etc. Maybe it does, but it does here too.. I know for a fact the Canadian police here were caught dressed up as protesters, often going farther than the real protesters just to give the police a reason to get aggressive. Police were caught red handed.

              Bet the answer is somewhere in between, or just a bunch of dumb people.

                  I believe its mostly a national pride thing. A lot of them are FOBs, don't read English newspapers and see it as an attack on Chinese people and not the government so it's easy to stir them up into this sort of thing. Probably a lot of young dudes there just going for something to do or to try to get laid. I'm sure many of us were conceived after protests ;)

                  Doubtless the PRC gov is stirring it up a bit with emails and forum posts from 'regular citizens' and most likely even some of their guys on the ground, unknowingly stirring up the crowds and controlling it.

                  Best behaved group of protesters I've ever seen, I gotta give them that.

                      Many of the Chinese middle to upper class are pretty damn happy with the status qua. They also do not want to think about nor really do much to assist the poor farmers and such living in out lining areas. Hell many of these are kids of the protests in the square not that long ago. They just have jobs, good salaries, access to luxuries, and everything else. Why rock that boat they are reaping?

                          Seems that National pride is not only mis understood in America, I guess it is mis understood in China as well.

                          I think it is good that the Chinese have pride in thier country.

                                  The chinese have been doing a heckova load better since 1990 than the us has. The difference is staggering, actually.

                                  As such, it's not particularly surprising they take a fuck you all attitude. Happened in the us, for the same reasons, a bit earlier.
