That alone, plus certain events during the 1812 war that we best not get into or it's cause a stir :D well...although Can & US had been friendly allies for a hundered years or more they'd have been stupid not to have some sort of plan B for us in place.

This was again underlined near the start of WWII when Canada again raised a massive army in a short period of time, again most of it amassed prior to the draft. We became the 4th largest army in the world by the mid 40's.

The only difference between Canada then and Canada now is we have a lot more people. If anyone thinks Canada can't again raise an army that knows how to kick ass and take names (Vimy Ridge, anyone? Juno Beach, anyone?) think again.
